PRP FROM HOWRSE: Cchilelli & Admin: The Viking Call

Fenrir paused, tilting his head to the side as he studied her, his ears flicking forward and back to catch the sound of her voice. He met her eyes, his flicking between both of hers intently. 'Can I trust you?' he thought. 'Why am I even considering this? I don't want to be some catch for her that mean't nothing. Especially not when she seems to know my most dangerous secret.'

Vaaka returned his gaze with equal intensity. "Well? Either show your human self or be on your way. You cannot deny the truth anymore, for I know what you are. It would be impossible to deny now, as you met me here, so there cannot be any fear for you now," she insisted, though she knew she was right. Of course he would hesitate, but she also knew herself to be correct. Even the most ignorant among men would see her reasoning as sound.

Fenrir sighed and shook the unease off of his muscles. He looked up and held her gaze, then pulled the wolf back in. He tried to hold her gaze but as his spine snapped into place he snarled in pain, squeezing his eyes shut as his claws and tail retracted and the fur disappeared from him body. He stayed crouched as his muscles shook with the amount of shifting so close together. Gritting his teeth he pushed himself up and ran his hands through his hair, pulling slightly in order to center himself in his form before raising his eyes to meet hers once more.

With amusement, Vaaka watched him, a sly slime crossing her face. "See? That wasn't so hard, was it?" she asked. It was a bit annoying that he had doubted her so much, when it was evident she had powers. "We are not so different you and I. Outcasts of our people, outsiders at least, though I am praised while you would likely be hated," she observed with a less playful tone. Wherever she went, she was hailed for her gifts, but doubtless it was different for he as he was so reluctant to show his true side.

"I prefer my solitude," he stated simply. He said nothing of how there were some that did know, but a trusted few. "You may call yourself praised but I see it as more akin to exploited. Why do you push so hard to provide evidence of your so called gifts? Unless you doubt them." Fenrir could feel his wolf pacing, wanting to be let out again, itching to run. Zoning out for a second, his gaze on the treeline that called to him he blinked to refocus. "Why did you wish to see my form so badly anyway?" he asked.

"They can try and exploit me, but that is not something I ever permit," she replied more shortly, her smile fading. "I take advantage of them, not the other way around. I only prove myself when it is time, not before. You are like me, but you doubted, that is why I did with you," she explained. She would never let herself be called so whorish. Even as his gaze shifted away, hers remained in place, as intense and cold as ever. "It was not that, it was that I desire to know the man behind the wolf. You are hiding from something, and I want to know what," she admitted.

Fenrir's gaze snapped to hers, his expression revealing nothing. "And why do you think that?" he asked, his head tilting as it did in his wolfskin. Small gestures often transferred from his wolfskin, seemingly unimportant movements unless they knew his secret.

Vaaka's smile returned, though she did not mean it to. Her tongue appeared between her teeth as she let out a small chuckle, though she hid it fairly well. "I have a gift," she laughed, "But you already know that. And your reaction has further proven it. What I don't know is what you want from me, and why you have indulged me. Of course, I can think of reasons why a man would entertain a woman's foolishness, but you have not yet shown much inclination in that respect."

Fenrir gave a dismissing shrug, resisting the urge to sweep his gaze across her form. "Perhaps it is just curiosity," he said. "Despite what you think, just because I am a man does not mean I feel compelled to do whatever you wish." He wasn't blind, and he wasn't a saint either. He enjoyed the company as much as any other man but his exploits were not made public. There was rumor of a mysterious stranger that would give the most amazing nights of your life if you so happened to run into him. But no one knew his name and he always vanished before the morning sun's light kissed the sky. "Everyone hides something. Anyone who tells you something different is lying to you," he stated. "This does not prove anything you claim is true." From what he could tell from his interactions with this woman so far, she lived off of the reactions and power over others, craved it almost; infuriated her when she didn't receive it. His head tilted, studying her with a blank expression though his mind was soaking up the details.

Vaaka merely shrugged a bit. "You may not feel as though you must do my bidding, but you seem compelled to listen to me all the same. Why is that, then, if you say I have no hold over you?" she inquired. Evidently, there was something else he wanted from her, though she could not quite figure out what it was, at least not yet. Perhaps it was her body, though he had not yet made a move on her. "Of course we all hide things," she chuckled, shaking her head, "Though I do not hide my truths. I need not your praise, nor your admiration, for I can gain that from anyone. I do not care what you think of me. I care what you think of yourself. Where you loyalties and motivations lie, for you are a curious specimen," she clarified. If she wanted praise, she could get it elsewhere, but there was something else about this one, something different that she had not yet encountered the likes of, that she truly wanted to know.

Fenrir arched his brow. "Who said I admired you?" he said, amusement thick in his voice. "Besides, being out among the trees beats being in a stuffy room with a man practically trying to shove w hores down my pants talking trade any day. Barrahas may need the trade help but I'd never trust that paranoid and possessive imp. Never in a million years." Fenrir held her gaze, his eyes shifting from blue to gold in mesmerizing swirls of color.

"I did not say that. I have admiration from many, therefor, I do not require it from you," she replied firmly, meaning it. "I am surprised though, to hear a man so easily discredit the wh0re. Most are inclined to take them up on their offerings, so I must ask why you do not, then?" she asked, a bit playfully. Already, she knew it was not on her account, but she desired to know some of his rational all the same. "You seem to be avoiding your Barrahas just as I avoid Strula, and for many of the same reasons," she pointed out with a quirked brow.

Fenrir scoffed. "Is there joy in the catch if there was no hunt?" he asked. "I see no need to pay woman to sleep with me. As for Barrahas, he is an old friend but I have never found need of this idle talk though he seems to believe I'm good at it. I do not belong to a clan for a reason. I am a self-declared outcast by choice not by necessity or force."

Though she had to resist the urge to roll her eyes, Vaaka found his answer at least a little more wise then men like Strula who would take advantage of every offer. “I do not think anyone has to pay a bed slave,” she reminded, “Though I have never heard a man turn down their pleasures for any reason,” she added. “And are you good at such pointless conversations? I have yet to see evidence of that.”

"I'm good at telling when one is trying to pull a fast one or lying," Fenrir stated simply. His shifted gold again, his wolf pushing to come out. There was something intriguing about this woman, Vaaka as he had learned from whispered conversations in the hall. She was different from most, and made his wolf curious. He wanted to get closer to her, but she was different and required a different sort of hunt, one more cunning than usual.

“I see,l Vaaka returned, her icy gaze focused on him. “That must be useful. What feelings do you get from me, then?” She asked, wondering what he thought of her. He seems interested but had not made any indication of wanting her as any more than a platonic consult perhaps. But even that seemed unlikely

Fenrir gave her a wolf's grin. "Come now, can't give you everything so easily," he said. "You should probably return to your master before he comes looking for you." Fenrir ruffled his dark hair then let his wolf leap out, shifting fast and he groaned at the snap. Standing up he shook out his coat before looking up at Vaaka, his golden eyes steady on her as he stood only a few feet away.

Vaaka scoffed. “He is not my master,” she said firmly. She would have none believe that either. He was so changeable it would seem, from perhaps a touch flirty to emotionless and removed from her. It irritated her, but she would soon have him worked out as well. What he wanted with her was most interesting, for he acted as though he did not care for her at all, but she knew that could not be the whole truth. There was something, it seemed. Still, for now, she would let it lie

Fenrir huffed out wolfish laughter, his golden eyes sparkling with amusement. He took a few steps forward until he was close enough for to touch. His eyes still on her he flicked his ears as if to "so what are you going to do now?" Fenrir kept his eyes on her. He wasn't sure what possessed him to step closer to her or even what he wanted her to do. But he was in his wolfskin and despite the fact that his skin itched with caution and his fur stood slightly on end at being so close to her, he was still curious.
