Cchilelli

Vaaka slowly descended the hill, her misty eyes focused on the lake below. Her mind wandered, for she found herself discontented with her current situation. She was, for now, the woman of Strula, but she did not find herself well satisfied with him. He was a war-bent brute, with little regard for her powers. Of course, he acknowledged she had them, for he was constantly asking her to make a sacrifice or cast runes on his account, but he did not see the true gift that her powers were. Still, that hardly mattered. Casting one of her locks over her shoulder, she neared the water's edge.

Fenrir trotted along the river bank, the wind ruffling his wolfskin's fur as his paws thudded quietly against the padded earth. His cabin was far back within the forest, hidden from view of most of humans. Normally he would be on his way to the neighboring clan to drink and joke with them as they went on their day but today was his hunting day. He lifted his nose, the wind bringing the scents of multiple game. Just as he turned to follow the trail of a lone yearling deer, a sharp sweet scent captured his attention as the wind shifted. His ears perked up and without even thinking he loped in the direction of it, weaving in between the tree line. As the scent grew stronger he slowed, his head down as he slunk under the shadows near the junction between the river and lake of a nearby clan, unknown to him. The blue flecks in his golden wolf's eyes sparkled as the sun reflected off them from within the shadows as his gaze settled on a crouched woman. His head tilted in curiosity he took a step forward, causing a branch to crackle beneath his paw.

Her hands were cupped to bring water to her lips, but sensing something nearing, Vaaka let the water fall through her grasp. She turned her icy gaze upwards, towards the forest-edge. Lips parting slightly, she rose to her full height, wiping her hands on her tattered, bloodstained dress as she did so. As of yet, she could not see whatever was nearby, but she could already tell it was there. Closing her eyes, she raised her palms up, trying to clear her mind in order to more fully see whatever lifeforce was nearing, obviously not one like her ignorant Strula. This was different. It had power, of some kind, like herself. However, she could not yet see it.

Fenrir huffed, breathing in as he tasted the scent of blood on the air. His sharp gaze scanned the woman in front of him and he flicked his ears in interest. She was different than anything he had ever seen, but he was not in his clan form now and mention of a wolf near a clan camp would instigate a hunt he did not feel like dealing with. He crouched, settling onto his haunches as he swept his gaze over her, taking in the details.

Opening her eyes, Vaaka spotted the wolf, a mischievous smile spreading across her face. "I know you are more than that form," she said, her melodic, though haunting voice easily carrying across the water, "So I know you doubtless would have been happy to see me bathe. I am sorry to disappoint, though perhaps you will give me more satisfaction that I gave you?" she inquired. He was more than a wolf, that was clear. Even if he was not a human, nor had the ability to be anything other than a wolf, he was curious, and that was not something an animal often was, at least not of humans.

Fenrir huffed out a breath in slight surprise, his ears flicking back as he eyed her suspiciously. 'she doesn't know,' he thought to himself. 'she can't possibly know.' He lifted his nose to sniff the air again, scenting for anything unusual. Finding nothing, he tilted his head, his ears perked. He kept his eyes hooded slightly, hoping to hide most of the blue flecks within them, that and the shifter mark that stayed with every form the only indication he was different. He flicked his gaze up to hers and got caught within it as he held her gaze. 'I shouldn't be doing this,' he thought. But it was drowned out by the intelligence and knowledge in her beautiful icy blue eyes and the teasing amusement in her soft voice.

Vaaka held her gaze steady, waiting for the creature to react. "I'm different too, I know you can tell. I am a seer," she encouraged, struggling to find out why he was so shy, "There is not a need to be timid, I see beyond what others do. I can sense you are different," she added, her misty eyes remaining fixed on him. If he was a man she knew it would not be too difficult to encourage him to do her will, as it never was.

Fenrir narrowed his eyes and his nostrils flared as he lifted his muzzle to scent the air again. His gaze flitted over her body before going back to her eyes. He stretched his neck out to smell, trying to see if there was a trap somewhere before he took a step forward, bringing his body out of the woodline. The sun hit his pitch black coat and the blue in his eyes flashed for a second. He paused about five paces from the woman, his muscles tense with anticipation as his wolf instincts screamed at him to run while his human curiosity pushed him to explore this intrigung new element.

Shaking her head, Vaaka looked at him with intrigue. Taking a step forward, she kept her hands by her sides, waiting for him to make the next move. "I know you are more. There is no need to hide from me," she said again, tiling her head as she spoke. She could tell he was a man, for no woman was so easily enchanted. But, being a man made her job much easier, for she could so easily cast her talons into him. Her beauty was exotic, enchanting, she knew how to use it.

Fenrir rocked back, his weight settling into his haunches as his ears flicked back. He eyed her suspiciously for beautiful things often held hidden thorns. The colors in his eyes flickered and his hackles stood up slightly. He was no normal sized wolf, his powers making him slightly larger until his shoulders were at her waist level, and he was larger than most. And yet, she wasn't afraid, she had no fear scent at all and in fact smelled more like... Fenrir sniffed the air once more. smug victory, like a prey cleverly caught.

Vaaka scoffed, seeing the wolf sizing her up. "You are stubborn, aren't you?" she asked with baited breath, "Tell me what it is you desire? I can tell you wanted to watch me bathe, yet were unable to. Perhaps if you concede to me, I will to you?" she said a bit more softly, wondering how stubborn he really was. Of course, she did not mean it literally and had no intentions of fulfilling her promises. However, sometimes a bit of temptation was enough to convince a man to do her bidding.

Fenrir huffed out a breath. 'Please' he scoffed to himself. 'Like I would give up my life's secret for a small human temptation and mild curiosity.' He flicked his ears back again. A strange scent accompanied this woman, almost overpowering to the point where he couldn't quite identify the source of the blood on her dress. His nose twitched and he inched a step closer to try and get a better idea, one ear flicked toward her as his body stayed tense, ready to leap away if he had to.

"Don't act so put off," Vaaka scolded, shaking her head at his obvious annoyance, "You know you are tempted," she added, crouching down to get a better look at him. A nearly maniacal smile spread across her face, so enthralled with his mystery. He had to be more, though she could not yet place what it was. There was little time to consult the gods, for she was too hooked in the moment, but she could if she needed. Later, perhaps, but for now, she would go on trying to convince him

Fenrir drew back as she crouched closer to him, his ears pinning back as he bared his teeth slightly, reminding her that though she thought more, he was still a wolf. A larger than normal, alpha male wolf with muscle rippling beneath his coat. His eyes met hers and they narrowed slightly as his nostrils flared and muzzle lifted. 'Who is she to tell me what to do,' he thought, annoyance prickling his skin and making his hackles raise slightly.

Without fear, she rose to her full height, then stepped towards him. "Don't bare your teeth at me," Vaaka warned, her voice as though she was scolding a child, "I have the gods on my side, what do you have other than the strength of a wolf?" she asked a bit tauntingly. She bore a knife too, as always, though she did not think it would be necessary to use it against him. He seemed intelligent, smart, more so than some mindless creature, and could likely be reasoned with.

Fenrir huffed out a breath and practically rolled his eyes. 'Gods,' he thought. 'Whole lot of good the gods have done for anyone. No wonder she's so arrogant if she thinks she has the gods on her side. The gods favor no one.' Fenrir looked up to hold her gaze. 'And none control me,' he thought, his gaze challenging her to try otherwise.

Seeing his obvious annoyance, Vaaka shook her head again, slowly this time, her blonde hair swaying a little from side to side. "Do not doubt me," she said firmly, her fading smile and narrowing eyes betraying her dark thoughts. "You should never doubt a seer. We are the children of the gods," she said again, this time lunging forward and grabbing the fur on his neck firmly, pulling out a few strands. He would not be happy, but she quickly retreated, hoping he was curious enough not to bite her. That was all she would need, a few strands to figure out what being he was.

Fenrir yelped and swung his head to snap at her, his ears pinned back as he just barely missed her hand. He snarled at her, his feet braced as he stood in front of her, his fur up with aggression, instantly making his form appear at least two times larger. 'How dare you,' he snarled in his head.

Vaaka laughed, biting her bottom lip as she looked at him with glee. She was a bit quick, she knew that. Now that she was a safe way away, she raised her eyebrows, mischief flashing in her eyes. Twisting her wrist around, she raised the fur to her lips and ran it through her mouth, closing her eyes as she did. Pulling it out, her eyes shot open and she looked down to her. "I knew there was something more," she said, her voice a bit softer, "You are a man, one of multiple shapes."

Fen's fur prickled with unease and his lips curled in a wary snarl, his ears still pinned back. 'This is what I get for being curious,' he huffed in his head. 'Should have just gone hunting but nope.' His chest heaved with a single breath as he eyed her carefully, every muscle tense. He needed to leave, to hunt for one thing, but also to get away before she somehow confirmed her suspicions, for they were still just that, suspicions. However there was no way he was turning his back to this woman or letting her think he was running away.

Vaaka waited, dropping the fur onto the ground. "I know now, and you must admit I do in fact have the gods on my side. Do not play games, show me," she said. Her own curiosity was rampant, making her want to know even more. Why did he stay? Why did he stop in the first place? Was it truly as simple as a desire to watch her bathe? "Go on, impress me," she encouraged.

'You're going to have to do a lot more than that to make me show my form,' Fen thought to himself. He shook his coat out and huffed a breath, eyeing her warily. 'My life is no game.' He lifted his nose to smell and the scent of an elk herd came to him. He looked back at the forest for a second, licking his nose in order to aid his tracking. 'Not too far from here.' Fenrir looked back at the woman, sweeping his gaze across her form before shaking the uneasiness out of his coat. 'Come and get me if you want me crazy,' he laughed in his head as he huffed out a breath, his eyes holding a challenging, teasing light before he shook his fur out and spun away, slipping into the forested brush.

"That is it?" she called after him, surprised by his abrupt change. It was interesting to think he would so quickly change his mind, but he would be back, it would seem. The promise of reward for showing his form was often enough o leverage men to do her will, but he obviously was not quite so ordinary. If he was in his human form, there was likely no limit to the hold she could have over him, or at least she told herself, and thus far, had been proven right.

Fenrir lifted his muzzle from the belly of a deer, his stomach turning with everything that happened. 'She's not anywhere near my clan,' he thought to himself. 'Odds are she'll never see me again and that will be that.' He shook his fur again, unease coating it still at how she seemed to know. He loped to the road and checked around to make sure there was no one around before shifting. His spine crackled as it changed position and shape and his bones snapped into places. His high pitched yelp of pain quickly morphed into a human hiss before he stood up and shook his limbs out. He ran his hands through his pitch black hair before starting down the road to his clan's village center where he spent most of his days when he wasn't out running or at his cabin.
